Starting this Sunday, Coach Chris will be starting the parents program at 8:30am during the academy sessions. The sessions are open to all adults, but are free to academy parents, or p500 to those outside the program.
(Please note, a parent must have a participating child at the Sunday session to claim a free spot. If your child is a member but is not participating in the session, then you must pay the p500 fee)
7s League
Well done to everyone involved in yesterday’s inaugural 7s League tournament. The tournament was well organized and competitive and will be a great addition to our seasonal calendar.
The coaches this week will require parents to email the coaches with their availability for the games, with the coaches emailing our the final line up before Sunday. Due to popular demand, we were a little oversubscribed this weekend and with only 2 x 20 mins games, we want to maximize the playing time for those who are at McKinley Hill.
Viber Group
Our admins will be setting up a Viber group for our respective age groups so look out for that text. It will provide everyone with regular updates regarding games/ tournaments and events so keep an eye out for that request to be sent out.
We would like this to primarily be a one way messaging service so in order to ensure it doesn’t become an open forum, so if you have any questions please direct them straight to the coach themselves. It will be a private group and your information cannot be seen by anyone who does not have your phone number already.
If you do not wish to be a part of the group please ignore the Viber text when it is sent out. You can still stay in touch with updates via email and social media pages.
YFL Tryouts
Just a reminder from Saturday- In a change to previous years, we will open up the entire month of February for tryouts for the YFL.
Instead of relying on one or two days of open tryouts, we will observe players in the training environment and it will give the players less pressure to perform on an individual day.
We will also be able to gauge the level of commitment of the player based on their attendance over this period- each coach will take down attendance and will use this information as part of the decision process when picking the team.
The YFL will start this year March 10 or 17, so with that in mind, we would like to begin the tryout and player registration process as early as this weekend.
Lastly, if there are any players who have registered with us, but were at another club last year they will need to sign a release from from the league. Alternatively, please let us know if you wish to play for another club in the YFL and we will grant you a release.
That’s all for now and we’ll see you over the weekend!
Una Kaya!
-Coach Chris
