Local Kaya footballers take the initiative to help the underprivileged and level the playing the field for football development in the Philippines.
Manila, Philippines – September 21, 2020 (www.kayafcacademy.com) – Kaya FC Academy today announce a new initiative created by its own youth footballers called “Kaya Cares”.
The Kaya Cares initiative aims to level the playing field and provide access to top-notch football training in the Philippines for local youth footballers from underprivileged areas who show promising football potential and commitment.
“For years we have informally accepted and funded local players here and there to participate in our training and matches who otherwise could not afford this opportunity”, said Chris Greatwich, Kaya FC Academy Director. “Today marks the official formal launch of the initiative which allows Kaya to give back to the local community. I am very proud of the fact that this program was initiated, created, and is run by our academy players who reached out in order to provide a formal long term plan for underprivileged footballers to have an opportunity as scholars and have world-class training here at Kaya”
Kaya Cares is focused on launching a successful program for all soccer scholars, specifically working closely with girls from the U15 division to start. These fully-funded scholars all are selected for their talent and commitment to training to be the very best at football. Kaya Cares main focus revolves around arranging training sessions multiple times per week. With every practice, the aim is to additionally coordinate and provide free meals, transportation services, coaching, and equipment all at zero cost to all scholars in the program.
“As youth footballers, we wanted to make an immediate impact in our local community through the sport we all love,” said Madison Wuu, Founder and Executive Director of Kaya Cares. “The need for proper football instruction at no cost to those underprivileged is great and we are so thankful for the help, support, and enthusiasm of Kaya FC Academy, Gawad Kalinga, and all the dedicated coaches and support staff involved. Without their dedication and commitment, none of this would be possible”
The academy will also continue to work with Gawad Kalinga across the boys and younger age groups with the assistance of the clubs’ sponsors Warren & Brown Technologies, Coaches Chester De Torres and Thomas Pfyll and the patronage of our extraordinarily generous parents and supporters.

ABOUT KAYA CARES
Kaya Cares is a non-profit organization founded in 2020 by four like-minded individuals. Each founding member shares a common goal: to close the wealth gap in the Philippines and unify all players together, who have a passion for soccer, regardless of their economic background or other barricades to success. Our mission is to provide underprivileged children in the Philippines the opportunity to maximize their soccer potential, with access to the proper vicinity and readily equipped gear at no cost.
Kaya Cares works to promote the recruitment of more players and athletes of lower socioeconomic status in the Philippines, who may lack the same opportunities that others may be privileged enough to have. This organization works closely in partnership with boys and girls from the Gawad Kalinga community, located among the Mandaluyong region. It is our hope that with the resources and facilities provided, these children can not only keep doing what they love but also improve their skill level and performance on the field. Kaya Cares is a youth-led program, managed and run by those who are passionate about reducing inequity in the Philippines and eager to help. We started this initiative because we wish to level the playing field for all athletes.
