For April, we will have a revised schedule for the month following a number of developments in recent weeks, as well as the tragic passing of Andrew Sarakinis.
This month there are a number of logistical issues and events that will affect the regular training program:
- Holy Week
- McKinley Hill hosting 2 x 2 day tournaments across April 15/16 & 22/23
- YFL starting April 23
- Summer Temperatures
Training will remain per the regular schedule before our last session before Holy Week on April 5. We will resume training the following Wed April 12.
On April 15/16 we will join the Kampeon Cup at McKinley Hill (select age groups) and the following week at the AIA 7s International Cup on April 22/23.
YFL is also due to start on April 23 (although this schedule may change). Starting April 29 we will begin YFL training for the U7, U9 & U11 teams at our usual 10-12 slot at McKinley Hill Stadium and this will continue through the season.
During training sessions, players will stop for hydration breaks every 20 mins. Sessions will therefore be a little more stop-start than usual and we will have more rotations in training where players will be required to sit in shaded areas while not on the field of play.
Training sessions will be calibrated based on the coach’s discretion. Sessions, where the field temperature exceeds 32C (FIFA guidelines) coaches, may be advised to cut short a field practice in order to conduct tactical sessions and perform team and player reviews, or other activities during the course of the allocated training slot. This is to ensure that we keep player safety right at the forefront of the academy, while still maximizing the player and team development focus during training sessions.
Other guidelines surrounding hydration and summer safety will be shared with you in due course. If anyone has any Qs regarding these guidelines, please contact me directly.
